Manufacturing Company Resumes Operations in Delaware
Advanced Aerosol Acquisition Awarded Funding from the State
DOVER, Del. (September 10, 2009) - Governor Jack Markell and Director Alan Levin joined
Advanced Aerosol Acquisition's CEO Richard Valentine, President Scott McCaig, and Executive VP
of Global Sales Sean Fitzgerald, today to announce the company's plan to resume operations at its
manufacturing plant, located at the Seaford Industrial Park.
"The city of Seaford has faced significant challenges with the downsizings of major employers in the
area." said Governor Jack Markell. "These jobs will mean a great deal in helping to improve the local
economy and put people back to work. We can make Delaware the best place in the nation to start and
grow a business. This announcement is real progress towards that goal."
Advanced Aerosol was recently approved for a loan in the amount of $1.2 million from the Delaware Economic Development Office. The funds will provide start-up working capital and assist the company
purchase new equipment. The investment will create 53 full-time jobs, providing an estimated
economic impact of $21.3 million to the state of Delaware.
"This investment in Advanced Aerosol will grow critical manufacturing jobs," said DEDO Director
Alan Levin. "These jobs offer some optimism for Delaware's economic recovery and to a community
that has weathered a tough employment environment."
Advanced Aerosol Acquisition is a contract aerosol filler, producing aerosols on behalf of other
companies which sell the finished products under their own brand labels. The company also owns
proprietary formulas for more than 700 other aerosol products, including silly string, aerosol spray
chalk, foaming soaps and a wide range of industrial solvents. The Seaford plant consists of 36,000
square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space, laboratories, mixing rooms and offices. In the
1990s, the facility achieved peak production, but after several changes in ownership, the company
ceased most operations.
The new Advanced Aerosol management team includes veterans from the aerosol, manufacturing,
finance and marketing industries. CEO Valentine is the founder of the MBA Group and has owned and
operated businesses in such diverse industries as insurance, high technology, real estate, financial
services, oil and gas, and corporate investigative services. President Scott McCaig is known worldwide
for his work in operations, consulting and strategic activities in the aerosol industry. Executive Vice President, Global Sales Sean Fitzgerald has been in the aerosol packaging industry since 1990,
when he became an account executive at Precision Valve Corp., the New York firm founded by Robert
Abplanalp, who patented the first aerosol valve in 1949.
