The Advanced Technology Center program is creating public-private partnerships to strengthen and diversify Delaware's economic base and to support the research and development and applied technology needs of the state's industries. The program was established by the Council on Science and Technology, composed of private sector representatives of small, medium and large technology-based companies from across the state, and is administered by the Delaware Economic Development Office. The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) program is working toward realizing this vision by meeting the following goals:
Funds appropriated by the General Assembly for this program are granted through a competitive process to partnering institutions (companies, academic institutions, etc.) that create Advanced Technology Centers in technology areas with significant long-term economic growth potential for the state. Matching funds are required for each Center at either a 1:1 or 2:1 level. The five Advanced Technology Centers established thus far are:
