The Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO) stands ready to help existing companies succeed, prosper and expand. The agency has a highly skilled staff ready to help entrepreneurs startup their own businesses through financial, legal and marketing advice. Workforce Center also leverages DEDO cluster employer groups to help Delaware companies recruit and retain valued employees. In essence, our local companies are provided assistance with recruitment, training, retention and education for all types of employees. Delaware clusters are identified as Automotive Manufacturing & Plastics, Biotechnology & Life Sciences, Chemistry & Advanced Materials, Financial Services, Health Service and Medical Devices, and Tourism.

The Delaware Economic Development's Office's workforce development professionals partner with employers and educational institutions and conducts targeted marketing programs for specific industries/skill sets, all designed to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce.

Delaware's Workforce Development Center coordinates and funds employment and customized training activities that help new and existing employers achieve their company goals. Delaware is focused on meeting the needs of current employers while proactively addressing future demands for a highly skilled workforce.

The 2007 State New Economy Index from the Kauffman Foundation and Information Technology & Innovation Foundation ranks Delaware #4 in the country for number of scientists and engineers and #8 for knowledge jobs. The 2007 Michigan Entrepreneurship Scorecard ranks Delaware third in the nation for unit labor costs.
